Websites for criminal defence solicitors
Criminal defence enquiries are often urgent and almost always on a phone. The website has to load quickly, put a working phone number and out-of-hours route where a worried person will find it immediately, and answer the first question, usually about a police interview, directly and without jargon.
Firm websites from £2,500 · you own the site, code and content on full payment · reply within one working day.
The first question
“I've been asked to attend a police interview. Do I need a solicitor?”
Someone who needs help today, often on a phone.
How clients choose a criminal defence firm online
Someone asked to attend a voluntary interview, or whose family member has been arrested, is not comparing websites at leisure. They want to know whether they need a solicitor, whether it costs anything, and how quickly someone can help. Speed, clarity and a visible phone number decide the enquiry more than design flourishes.
The same site may also need to serve people facing motoring charges or later court hearings, who are less rushed and more price-conscious. Separating urgent and planned journeys stops each from getting in the other's way.

Who will represent you
Design decisions, and why
- The phone number leads, because the need is urgent and usually mobile.
- Short sentences and a calm tone for someone under pressure.
- Funding is explained plainly, as it's often the second question.
Main website or a separate site?
Could be either.
Criminal defence has a distinct audience and urgent search behaviour, which can suit a focused site. Where the firm's standing in local courts is the draw, the main website carries that better.
Specialist enquiry sitesWhat the SRA rules require
Advice and representation at the Magistrates' Court on summary-only road traffic offences dealt with at a single hearing is a service listed in rule 1.3(e) of the SRA Transparency Rules, so a firm that publicises it must publish cost and service information for it. Publicly funded work is excluded from that requirement (rule 1.2). Whatever the area, every SRA-authorised firm must publish its complaints procedure, including how and when a complaint can go to the Legal Ombudsman and the SRA (rule 2.1), and display its SRA number and the SRA digital badge prominently (rule 4.1).

No one can guarantee rankings, enquiries or mentions in AI answers, and we don't. We build a site that is clear, compliant, fast and easy for search engines and AI tools to understand, and we're candid about what that can and can't do.
Questions firms ask
Do criminal defence firms have to publish prices?
Only for some work. Summary-only road traffic offences dealt with at a single hearing are covered by the SRA Transparency Rules, and publicly funded work is excluded. Many defence firms still explain clearly whether police station advice is free, because that is often the first thing people ask.
What matters most on a criminal defence website?
Speed on a phone, a phone number that works with one tap, an out-of-hours route that is genuinely staffed, and a direct answer to the visitor's immediate question. Everything else is secondary to those four.
Should motoring offences have their own site?
It can work. Motoring defence attracts a distinct, price-aware audience that searches in its own way, so a focused site can suit a firm with capacity for that work. Urgent police station work usually belongs on the main website, close to the firm's name and reputation.
